Syntypes: ZSI (whereabouts unknown). •Synonym of Osteobrama cotio (Hamilton 1822), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:240 [ref. 20764], Menon 1999:65 [ref. 24904], Biju et al. 1999:481 [ref. 25439], Raju Thomas et al. 2002:49 [ref. 26359], Yadav 2003:11 [ref. 27711] as peninsulanis). •Synonym of Osteobrama vigorsii (Sykes 1839) -- (Jadhav et al. 2011:2079 [ref. 31547]). •Possibly valid as Osteobrama peninsularis Silas 1952 -- (Rahman et al. 2018:116 [ref. 36230]). •Valid as Osteobrama peninsularis Silas 1952 -- (Suresh et al. 2018:104 [ref. 36495], Shangningam et al. 2020:74 [ref. 37247]). Current status: Valid as Osteobrama peninsularis Silas 1952. Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Maharashtra, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, India. Habitat: freshwater.
