Holotype: USNM 161512. Paratypes (listed as additional material): (2) MCZ 37399 (1). •Valid as Paramyxine springeri Bigelow & Schroeder 1952 -- (Wisner 1999:312 [ref. 24160], Mok et al. 2001:1026 [ref. 25820]). •Valid as Eptatretus springeri (Bigelow & Schroeder 1952) -- (Fernholm & Hubbs 1981:74 [ref. 8605], Hensley 1985:866 [ref. 6783], Fernholm 1991:117 [ref. 20219], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:33 [ref. 23897], Fernholm 1998:34 [ref. 23976], Mok 1999:61 [ref. 24095], Mincarone 2000:815 [ref. 25198], Fernholm 2003:355 [ref. 26983], Angulo & Del Moral-Flores 2016:108 [ref. 34472]). Current status: Valid as Eptatretus springeri (Bigelow & Schroeder 1952). Myxinidae: Eptatretinae. Distribution: Gulf of Mexico. Habitat: marine.
