maxima, Alburnus alborella Fatio [V.] 1882:449 [Faune des Vertébrés de la Suisse Part 1; ref. 1308] Lake Lugano, Italy/Switzerland. Holotype (unique): MHNG 815.80. Type catalog: Weber 1998:5 [ref. 32707]. If the name is an adjective, then the correct spelling when in Alburnus is maximus. Appeared as Alborella maxima, but from the context it is clear that Alborella was not used as a genus, but as a species of Alburnus. •Synonym of Alburnus alburnus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 1997:46 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Alburnus maxima Fatio 1882 -- (Buj et al. 2010:131[ref. 30888], Lorenzoni et al. 2019:251 [ref. 37108] with question). Current status: Valid as Alburnus maximus Fatio 1882. Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southern Europe: Lake Lugano, Italy/Switzerland. Habitat: freshwater.
