Syntypes: NMW 16261 (1), 16441 (1), 50440 (1), 55650 (2), 55652 (1); MNHN (1). Aspius mento Perty 1832 is a nomen nudum. Lectotype selected by Freyhof & Kottelat 2007:217 [ref. 29340]. Current status: Valid as Alburnus mento (Heckel 1836). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Eastern Europe: lakes and rivers of the upper Danube system. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
