Spelled originally (many times) as alaskense, incorrectly spelled alaskanse by Vladykov et al. in Lee et al. 1980:15 [ref. 22416]. •Synonym of Lethenteron japonicum (Martens 1868) -- (Holčík 1986:199 [ref. 24819]). •Valid as Lampetra alaskense (Vladykov & Kott 1978) -- (Lee et al. 1980:22 [ref. 22416] as alaskanse, McAllister 1990:26 [ref. 14674], Yamazaki & Goto 2000:8 [ref. 24514], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:63 [ref. 25968]). •Synonym of Lampetra appendix (DeKay 1842), but possibly a valid subspecies -- (Fuller et al. 1999:19 [ref. 25838]). •Questionable synonym of Lethenteron camtschaticum (Tilesius 1811) or Lethenteron kessleri (Anikin 1905) -- (Naseka & Renaud 2020:35, 51 [ref. 37921]). •Valid as Lethenteron alaskense Vladykov & Kott 1978 -- (Chereshnev 1996:598 [ref. 24659], Lang et al. 2009:48 [ref. 31599], Page & Burr 2011:130 [ref. 31215], Renaud 2011:66 [ref. 31770], Page et al. 2013:48 [ref. 32708], Mateus et al. 2013:46 [ref. 32714], Page et al. 2023:36 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Lethenteron alaskense Vladykov & Kott 1978. Petromyzontidae. Distribution: Arctic Ocean drainage and western North Pacific (Alaska) and Northwest Territories, Canada.
