Holotype: MBUCV-V-20225. Paratypes: AMNH 74452 (5), 74453 (5, 1 c&s); MBUCV-V-14903 (16, not 12, 1 c&s), V-14916 (?7, not 6). Type catalog: Provenzano et al. 1998:13 [ref. 24196], Ferraris 2007:274 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Niobichthys ferrarisi Schaefer & Provenzano 1998 -- (Isbrücker 2001:30 [ref. 25653], Isbrücker 2002:23 [ref. 27178], Schaefer in Reis et al. 2003:324 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:274 [ref. 29155], Delapieve et al. 2018:23 [ref. 35713]). Current status: Valid as Niobichthys ferrarisi Schaefer & Provenzano 1998. Loricariidae: Hypoptopomatinae. Distribution: Upper Baria River, Negro River basin, Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
