Holotype: USNM 259131. Paratypes: SMNS 19172 (2); USNM 259136 (1), 293711 (1), 295566 (9), 345509 (15). Type catalog: Fricke 2005:64 [ref. 29864]. •Valid as Enneapterygius fuscoventer Fricke 1997 -- (Fricke & Williams in Randall & Lim 2000:632 [ref. 25122], Williams & Fricke 2001:3534 [ref. 26288], Chiang & Chen 2008:196 [ref. 29932], Fricke 2009:39 [ref. 30394], Patzner et al. 2009:445 [ref. 30396], Allen & Erdmann 2012:766 [ref. 31980], Fricke & Erdmann 2017:24 [ref. 35129], Tashiro & Motomura 2018:[2] 253 [ref. 35918], Dewa et al. 2022:24 [ref. 40001]). Current status: Valid as Enneapterygius fuscoventer Fricke 1997. Tripterygiidae: Tripterygiinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Philippines and Papua New Guinea east to Society Islands, north to Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan). Habitat: marine.
