Holotype (unique): BMNH 1951.10.4.1. •Valid as Mordacia lapicida (Gray 1851) -- (Pequeño 1989:5 [ref. 14125], Dyer 2000:84 [ref. 26678], Yamazaki & Goto 2000:8 [ref. 24514], Kullander & Fernholm in Reis et al. 2003:12 [ref. 27061], Lang et al. 2009:50 [ref. 31599] but possibly in genus Caragola, Renaud 2011:19 [ref. 31770], Reis et al. 2016:18 [ref. 34496], Miller et al. 2021:[11] [ref. 38264]). Current status: Valid as Mordacia lapicida (Gray 1851). Mordaciidae. Distribution: South America: rivers of central and southern Chile. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
