Holotype: RMNH 32880. Paratypes: RMNH 32881-89 (9, five localities). •Valid as Barbus brevicephalus Nagelkerke & Sibbing 1997 -- (Nagelkerke & Sibbing 1998:5 [ref. 23807], Nagelkerke & Sibbing 2000:191 [ref. 24546]). •Valid as Labeobarbus brevicephalus (Nagelkerke & Sibbing 1997) -- (de Graaf et al. 2010:340 [ref. 34085], Nagelkerke et al. 2015:1198 [ref. 34084], Vreven et al. 2016:56 [ref. 34168], Beshera et al. 2016:377 [ref. 34343], Beshera et al. 2023:190 [ref. 40418]). Current status: Valid as Labeobarbus brevicephalus (Nagelkerke & Sibbing 1997). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: East Africa: Lake Tana and tributaries (Ethiopia). Habitat: freshwater.
