Species epithet illota is an adjective; ending therefore changed to illotus when in masculine genus Eugnathogobius. •Valid as Calamiana illota Larson 1999 -- (Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:636 [ref. 25122], Kottelat 2001:60 [ref. 25482] but genus misspelled Callamiana, Larson 2001:57 [ref. 25522], Larson et al. 2008:141 [ref. 29532]). •Valid as Calamiani illota Larson 1999 -- (Huang et al. 2014:146 [ref. 33157]). •Valid as Eugnathogobius illotus (Larson 1999) -- (Kottelat 2013:406 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:312 [ref. 38603], Taki et al. 2021:465 [ref. 39830], Jamandre 2023:168 [ref. 40455], Endruweit 2024:82 [ref. 41040]). Current status: Valid as Eugnathogobius illotus (Larson 1999). Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Singapore east to Philippines, north to Red River estuary, northern Vietnam. Habitat: brackish.
