Paratypes: ANSP 176180 (6); BMNH 1997.8.28.1-6 (6); MNHN 1994-1115 (5), 1997-183 (14); MRAC 97-44-P-1-6 (6); UFRJ 3879 (6); ZMB 32774 (6). A translation in English appeared in Journal of the American Killifish Association, v. 32 (no. 3):79-88 [ref. 32823], and in Killi-News, No. 401:17-25. •Valid as Chromaphyosemion alpha (Huber 1998) -- (Sonnenberg 2000:89 [ref. 26135], Sonnenberg 2007:3 [ref. 29286], van der Zee et al. 2018:88 [ref. 35718]). •Valid as Aphyosemion alpha Huber 1998 -- (Legros 2000:40 [ref. 34970], Lazara 2001:8 [ref. 25711], van der Zee et al. 2007:151 [ref. 30034], Pohlmann 2009:35 [ref. 30191], Agnèse et al. 2013:520 [ref. 32730], Agnèse et al. 2018:26 [ref. 36256], Fermon et al. 2022:252 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Aphyosemion alpha Huber 1998. Nothobranchiidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Gabon endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
