Paratypes: MZUSP 53304 (1), USNM 320481 (1). •Valid as Brycon vermelha Lima & Castro 2000 -- (Lima in Reis et al. 2003:178 [ref. 27061], Lima 2017:43 [ref. 35071], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:36 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Brycon vermelha Lima & Castro 2000. Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Distribution: South America: Mucuri River basin and some small coastal drainages to the Itabapoana River (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
