Additional specimens seen by Huveneers 2006 are at AMS and CSIRO. Misspelled haeli in Zoological Record for 1940. Holotype was SAMA 2883, a cast not found in 1997. Neotype designated and figured by Huveneers 2006:33-34 [ref. 28782]. •Synonym of Orectolobus ornatus (De Vis 1883) -- (Compagno 1984:184 [ref. 6474], Paxton et al. 1989:91 [ref. 12442], Gomon et al. 1994:117 [ref. 22532], Last & Stevens 1994:131 [ref. 23873], Compagno 2001:158 [ref. 26323], Hoese et al. 2006:120 [ref. 29001]). •Valid as Orectolobus halei Whitley 1940 -- (Huveneers 2006:32 [ref. 28782], Last & Chidlow 2008:49 [ref. 29433], Last et al. 2008:39 [ref. 29677], White 2008:47 [ref. 30617], Last et al. 2010:1 [ref. 30845], Weigmann 2016:10 [ref. 34211]). Current status: Valid as Orectolobus halei Whitley 1940. Orectolobidae. Distribution: Temperate Australia from Queensland to Western Australia. Habitat: marine.
