Holotype: NCIP 6186. Paratypes: WAM P.31497-002 (3). Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:31 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Amblypomacentrus clarus Allen & Adrim 2000 -- (Allen 2001:3342 [ref. 26132], Allen & Adrim 2003:44 [ref. 26830], Prokofiev 2004:121 [ref. 28088], Allen & Erdmann 2012:569 [ref. 31980], Parenti 2021:44 [ref. 38418], Allen & Erdmann 2024:628 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Amblypomacentrus clarus Allen & Adrim 2000. Pomacentridae: Pomacentrinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Cambodia, Indonesia and Philippines; probably more widespread. Habitat: marine.
