(3), NRM 44922 (3), ZRC 45400 (3). •Valid as Tetraodon turgidus (Kottelat 2000) -- (Ebert 2001:66 [ref. 25494]). •Valid as Pao turgidus (Kottelat 2000) -- (Kottelat 2013:480 [ref. 32989], Kottelat 2015:49 [ref. 33971], Fu et al. 2021:9573 [ref. 39347]). •Possible synonym of Pao abei (Roberts 1998) -- (Taki et al. 2021:506 [ref. 39830]). Current status: Valid as Pao turgidus (Kottelat 2000). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mekong River basin (Laos and Yunnan/China). Habitat: freshwater.
