Holotype: BPBM 31331. Paratypes: BPBM 22257 (1), CAS 205597 (1), USNM 353675 (1). •Valid as Scarus fuscocaudalis Randall & Myers 2000 -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:56 [ref. 24943], Kishimoto et al. 2002:2 [ref. 26569], Allen & Adrim 2003:52 [ref. 26830], Myers & Donaldson 2003:637 [ref. 27495], Randall et al. 2005:127 [ref. 28745], Motomura et al. 2010:177 [ref. 31256], Allen & Erdmann 2012:741 [ref. 31980], Moore et al. 2020:110 [ref. 37357], Dewa et al. 2022:24 [ref. 40001]). Current status: Valid as Scarus fuscocaudalis Randall & Myers 2000. Labridae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Indonesia, Timor Sea and Philippines east to Guam, north to Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan), south to Kimberley (Western Australia). Habitat: marine.
