Holotype: BPBM 31331. Paratypes: BPBM 22257 (1), CAS 205597 (1), USNM 353675 (1). •Valid as Scarus fuscocaudalis Randall & Myers 2000 -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:56 [ref. 24943], Kishimoto et al. 2002:2 [ref. 26569], Allen & Adrim 2003:52 [ref. 26830], Myers & Donaldson 2003:637 [ref. 27495], Randall et al. 2005:127 [ref. 28745], Motomura et al. 2010:177 [ref. 31256], Allen & Erdmann 2012:741 [ref. 31980]). Current status: Valid as Scarus fuscocaudalis Randall & Myers 2000. Scaridae: Scarinae. Distribution: Western Pacific and southeastern Indian Ocean: Indonesia, Timor Sea, Philippines to Guam, north to Taiwan and Ryukyu Islands. Habitat: marine.
