Holotype: ZRC 46583. Paratypes: CMK 15321 (4), LARReC uncat. (2), NMMBA 464 (2), ZRC 47676 (2). Appeared first in Kottelat 2001: 62 [ref. 25482] and in Kottelat 2001:158 [ref. 25780] as nomen nudum. •Valid as Rhinogobius vermiculatus Chen & Kottelat 2003 -- (Chen & Kottelat 2003:91 [ref. 27103], Chen et al. 2008:341 [ref. 29895], Kottelat 2013:426 [ref. 32989], Huang et al. 2016:[8] [ref. 34339], Takahashi & Okazaki 2017:[2] [ref. 35171], Suzuki et al. 2017:82 [ref. 35202]). Current status: Valid as Rhinogobius vermiculatus Chen & Kottelat 2003. Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Laos; expected in Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
