Holotype: MZUSP 58539. Paratypes: MZUSP 57540 (6), UFRJ 4843-4844 (9, 8), UMMZ 365811 (20). •Valid as Hyphessobrycon itaparicensis Lima & Costa 2001 -- (Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:137 [ref. 27061], Zanata & Camelier 2010:776 [ref. 31077], Brito et al. 2014:1157 [ref. 41492], Carvalho et al. 2014:248 [ref. 33371], Dagosta et al. 2014:373 [ref. 33382], Zanata et al. 2018:[2] [ref. 35863], Guimarães et al. 2018:82 [ref. 35965], Silva et al. 2020:6 [ref. 37809], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:38 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon itaparicensis Lima & Costa 2001. Acestrorhamphidae: Hyphessobryconinae. Distribution: South America: small coastal streams in the Northeastern Mata Atlântica freshwater ecoregion, from Camamu municipality to tributaries of rio Sergipe in Areia Branca municipalit, Bahia to Sergipe (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
