B-C) [Indo-Pacific Fishes No. 34; ref. 25801] Eastern coast of Flamand Islet, lagoon side, Mauritius, Mascarenes, southwestern Indian Ocean, depth 7 meters. Holotype: BPBM 20148. Paratypes: BPBM 38851 (1); CAS 214203 (1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 2146 (1), 14361 (1), 52116 (1), 52133 (1), 62353 (2), 63536 (1); USNM 364593 (1). •Valid as Scorpaenopsis longispina Randall & Eschmeyer 2001 -- (Heemstra et al. 2004:3318 [ref. 27945], Fricke et al. 2009:40 [ref. 30213], Fricke et al. 2013:208 [ref. 32769], Naranji & Velamala 2016:87 [ref. 35147], Fricke et al. 2018:135 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Scorpaenopsis longispina Randall & Eschmeyer 2001. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East and South Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Philippines and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to Dampier Archipelago (Western Australia), Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
