Paratypes: INPA 16200 (1); MZUSP 62615 (9, 1 c&s), 64107 (2); USNM 363175 (1). •Valid as Moenkhausia diktyota Lima & Toledo-Piza 2001 -- (Benine in Reis et al. 2003:147 [ref. 27061], Benine et al. 2007:262 [ref. 29279], Benine et al. 2009:161 [ref. 30250] as dyktiota, Marinho & Langeani 2010:887 [ref. 30927], Dagosta et al. 2015:424 [ref. 33998], Ohara & Marinho 2016:[6] 42 [ref. 34383], Bogotá-Gregory et al. 2020:1399 [ref. 37878], Reia et al. 2021:11 [ref. 38582]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia diktyota Lima & Toledo-Piza 2001. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Rio Negro drainage, Rio Orinoco basin (Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
