Holotype: ICNMHN 4158. Paratypes: ANSP 134080 (5); NRM 16842-43 (19, 15); USNM 353866-67 (5, 5). Type catalog: Mojica & Agudelo-Zamora 2018:14 [ref. 36127]. •Valid as Creagrutus atratus Vari & Harold 2001 -- (Vari & Harold in Reis et al. 2003:122 [ref. 27061], Román-Valencia et al. 2010:95 [ref. 30781], Mirande et al. 2013:763 [ref. 33366], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:57 [ref. 35633], Urbano-Bonilla et al. 2018:88 [ref. 35773]). Current status: Valid as Creagrutus atratus Vari & Harold 2001. Stevardiidae: Creagrutinae. Distribution: Orinoco River basin, Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
