Holotype: MZUSP 50546. Paratypes: FML 2527 (1), MCP 18738 (13), MNHNP 2999 (13), MZUSP 50547 (12, 1 c&s), NRM 22619 (20), USNM 341363 (12, 2 c&s). •Valid as Creagrutus meridionalis Vari & Harold 2001 -- (Vari & Harold in Reis et al. 2003:124 [ref. 27061], Baicere-Silva et al. 2011:381 [ref. 31395], Dagosta & Pastana 2014:581 [ref. 33181], Mirande et al. 2013:763 [ref. 33366], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], Koerber et al. 2017:33 [ref. 35267]). Current status: Valid as Creagrutus meridionalis Vari & Harold 2001. Stevardiidae: Creagrutinae. Distribution: Upper Paraguay River basin in Mato Grosso State and eastern tributaries to Paraguay River: Brazil and Paraguay. Habitat: freshwater.
