Holotype: UMMZ 237492. Paratypes: AMNH 230746-47 (2, 2); UMMZ 237063 (5, 1 c&s), 237064 (5, 2 c&s), 237065 (1), 237067 (7). Type catalog: Fricke et al. 2018:257 [ref. 35805]. •Valid as Ptychochromis inornatus Sparks 2002 -- (Sparks 2002:547 [ref. 26376], Sparks 2003:317 [ref. 27400], Stiassny & Sparks 2006:38 [ref. 28788], Sparks & Stiassny 2010:46 [ref. 30695], Martinez et al. 2015:89 [ref. 34035], Fricke et al. 2018:256 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Ptychochromis inornatus Sparks 2002. Cichlidae: Ptychochrominae. Distribution: Northwestern Madagascar. Habitat: freshwater.
