Holotype (unique): BPBM 9360. •Valid as Apogon dianthus Fraser & Randall 2002 -- (Greenfield 2007:601 [ref. 29453], Fricke et al. 2014:69 [ref. 33932], Mabuchi et al. 2014:197 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:39 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Apogon dianthus Fraser & Randall 2002. Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Comores; Indonesia east to Palau and Fiji, south to Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
