Holotype: WAM P.31480-001. Paratypes: AMS I.38996-001 (2), BPBM 37873 (2), USNM 351560 (1). Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:24 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon cladophilos Allen & Randall 2002 -- (Allen & Adrim 2003:35 [ref. 26830], Allen et al. 2006:1085 [ref. 29004]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus cladophilos (Allen & Randall 2002) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:390 [ref. 31980], Fraser 2012:82 [ref. 32177], Mabuchi et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:98 [ref. 36965], Allen & Erdmann 2024:415 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus cladophilos (Allen & Randall 2002). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Eastern Indiajn Ocean, western Pacific: Flores (Indonesia), Great Barrier Reef/Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
