Holotype: MUFM 149. Paratypes: MUFM 150 (40). •Valid as Barilius ngawa Vishwanath & Manojkumar 2002 -- (Nath et al. 2010:24 [ref. 33488] with author as Manoj Kumar, Mayanglambam & Vishwanath 2012:2363 [ref. 31817], Arunkumar et al. 2023:72 [ref. 40043]). •Questionably a synonym of Opsarius barnoides (Vinciguerra 1890) -- (Kottelat 2013:131 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Opsarius ngawa (Vishwanath & Manojkumar 2002) -- (Arunkumar & Moyon 2017:167 [ref. 35774], Bleher 2018:618 [ref. 36647], Moyon & Arunkumar 2019:6 [ref. 37054], Kumari et al. 2024:8 [ref. 40818]). Current status: Valid as Opsarius ngawa (Vishwanath & Manojkumar 2002). Danionidae: Chedrinae. Distribution: South Asia: Manipur River basin, Manipur, India. Habitat: freshwater.
