Cavalcante, Goiás, 13°47'S, 47°30'W, Brazil. Holotype: MZUSP 40804. Paratypes: MCP 21715 (15); MNRJ 21974 (4, 1 c&s), MZUSP 70221 (15, 1 c&s), 40797 (2), 40810 (11), 40813 (6); USNM 36832 (2). •Valid as Characidium stigmosum Melo & Buckup 2002 -- (Buckup in Reis et al. 2003:91 [ref. 27061], Peixoto & Wosiacki 2013:56 [ref. 32558], Netto-Ferreira et al. 2013:366 [ref. 32717], Zanata & Camelier 2014:341 [ref. 33380], Melo & Oyakawa 2015:288 [ref. 33788], Mendonça & Netto-Ferreira 2015:192 [ref. 33967], Zanata & Ohara 2015:373 [ref. 33970], Zanata & Camelier 2015:497 [ref. 33983], Zanata et al. 2015:381 [ref. 34023], Zanata et al. 2018:84 [ref. 36279]). Current status: Valid as Characidium stigmosum Melo & Buckup 2002. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: Paranã River basin in upper Tocantins River drainage, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
