Holotype: MZUSP 73975. Paratypes: AMNH 232393 (4, 2 c&s); MZUSP 73976 (11, 5 c&s); UFRJ 5420 (8), 5421 (2, c&s). Plus non-type material. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:275 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Otocinclus tapirape Britto & Moreira 2002 -- (Schaefer in Reis et al. 2003:325 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:275 [ref. 29155], Ribeiro & Lehmann A. 2016:240 [ref. 34636], Delapieve et al. 2018:23 [ref. 35713]). Current status: Valid as Otocinclus tapirape Britto & Moreira 2002. Loricariidae: Hypoptopomatinae. Distribution: Upper and middle Araguaia River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
