Current status: Valid as Gymnogobius opperiens Stevenson 2002. Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: East Asia: Sea of Japan and Pacific coast north to southern Kuril Islands (Korea, northern Japan, and Russia). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
