Holotype: FMNH 101974. Paratypes: ANSP 149663 (1); MZUSP 31052 (3, 1 c&s), 33384-85 (1, 3), 51842 (2, 1 c&s), 51845-46 (1, 1), 51849-51 (1, 1, 2), 51853 (2). •Valid as Apionichthys menezesi Ramos 2003 -- (Ramos in Menezes et al. 2003:107 [ref. 27192], Barriga Salazar 2014:119 [ref. 35745], Lasso et al. in Lasso & Morales-Betancourt 2022:292 [ref. 40783]). Current status: Valid as Apionichthys menezesi Ramos 2003. Achiridae. Distribution: South America: Ecuador, Brazil, and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
