Paratypes: AMS I.33746-024 (1); BPBM 11351 (1), 14469 (2), 31161 (1), 33719 (2), 321742 (1); CAS 40164 (1); USNM 323949 (2), 338735 (4), 362177 (1), 363206 (1). •Questionably valid as Thalassoma nigrofasciatum Randall 2003 -- (Bernardi et al. 2004:405 [ref. 27454]). •Valid as Thalassoma nigrofasciatum Randall 2003 -- (Randall 2005:440 [ref. 28239], Allen et al. 2006:1415 [ref. 29095], Parenti & Randall 2011:36 [ref. 31299], Allen & Erdmann 2012:723 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:139 [ref. 33932], Fricke et al. 2019:239 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Thalassoma nigrofasciatum Randall 2003. Labridae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Papua New Guinea and eastern Australia east to Fiji and Niue, south to Lord Howe Island, Kermadec Islands and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
