Holotype: UF 25552. Paratypes: ICNMHN 6690 (1), UF 128412 (1). Plus non-type material. Current status: Valid as Gymnotus tigre Albert & Crampton 2003. Gymnotidae: Gymnotinae. Distribution: Amazon River basin: Colombia and Ecuador. Habitat: freshwater.
