Holotype: MZUSP 64480. Paratypes: ANSP 177924 (10), MCP 26672 (10), MNRJ 21045 (10), MZUSP 64481 (410). The original spelling was lopesi. Apparently apeared in the Zoological Record, printed version for 2006 as M. vanzoi. •Valid as Moenkhausia lopesi Britski & de Silimon 2001 -- (Benine in Reis et al. 2003:148 [ref. 27061] as lopezi, Bertaco et al. 2011:36 [ref. 31403], Azevedo-Santos & Benine 2016:208 [ref. 34837], Marinho & Benine 2024:230 [ref. 40817], Reia et al. 2024:13 [ref. 40849]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia lopesi Britski & de Silimon 2001. Acestrorhamphidae: Stichonodontinae. Distribution: South America: upper Paraguay River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
