Holotype: ZRC 49208. Paratypes: CMK 14981 (8), ZRC 49209 (4). •Valid as Zhuquella sulcata (Chen & Kottelat 2005) -- (Endruweit 2024:189 [ref. 41040]). •Valid as Rhinogobius sulcatus Chen & Kottelat 2005 -- (Chen et al. 2008:342 [ref. 29895], Kottelat 2013:426 [ref. 32989], Huang et al. 2016:[9] [ref. 34339], Takahashi & Okazaki 2017:[2] [ref. 35171], Suzuki et al. 2017:82 [ref. 35202], Endruweit 2018:307 [ref. 36165], Parenti 2021:363 [ref. 38603], Maeda et al. 2024:523 [ref. 41367]). Current status: Valid as Rhinogobius sulcatus Chen & Kottelat 2005. Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Red River basin (northeastern Vietnam and bordering China). Habitat: freshwater.
