Paratypes: CMK 14951 (1), 14982 (3); ZRC 49203 (2). •Valid as Rhinogobius variolatus Chen & Kottelat 2005 -- (Kottelat 2013:426 [ref. 32989], Takahashi & Okazaki 2017:[3] [ref. 35171], Suzuki et al. 2017:83 [ref. 35202]). Current status: Valid as Rhinogobius variolatus Chen & Kottelat 2005. Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Ba Che drainage and and unnamed creek north of Cam Pha, Quang Ninh, Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
