Holotype: MCP 34000. Paratypes: MCP 33929 (11), 33930 (10, 1 c&s), 33931 (6, 1 c&s); MZUSP 84411 (6). •Valid as Hyphessobrycon hamatus Bertaco & Malabarba 2005 -- (Miquelarena & López 2006:824 [ref. 29070], Bertaco et al. 2007:248 [ref. 29277], Carvalho & Langeani 2013:526 [ref. 32913], Teixeira et al. 2016:474 [ref. 34088]). •Valid as Psalidodon -- (Melo et al. 2024:30 [ref. 41541] in Acestrorhamphinae). Current status: Valid as Psalidodon hamatus (Bertaco & Malabarba 2005). Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: South America: Vermelho River drainage, Goiás, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
