Paratypes: FSJF 181 (12), 219 (10), 1020 (5); CMK 18550 (5). •Synonym of Cottus gobio (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Bianco & Delmastro 2011:6 [ref. 31648] as scaturigio, Bianco 2013:10 [ref. 32897]). •Valid as Cottus scaturigo Freyhof, Kottelat & Nolte 2005 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:517 [ref. 29996], Sideleva 2009:211 [ref. 30173], Goto et al. 2014:[11] [ref. 33456], Lorenzoni et al. 2019:253 [ref. 37108]). •Synonym of Cottus metae Freyhof, Kottelat & Nolte 2005 -- (Bravničar et al. 2021: [12] 439 [ref. 38624]). Current status: Synonym of Cottus metae Freyhof, Kottelat & Nolte 2005. Cottidae. Distribution: Southern Europe: northeastern Italy and Croatia [if valid]. Habitat: freshwater.
