Holotype: MCP 35006. Paratypes: MCP 10751 (6), 10733 (3), 15741 (1), 35824 (4); MZUSP 27187 (2); NRM 31456 (11); USNM 181682 (2), 181689 (2). •Valid as Triportheus pantanensis Malabarba 2004 -- (Mirande 2010:485 [ref. 31006], Brancolini et al. 2011:668 [ref. 41481], Koerber 2014:3 [ref. 33621], Mirande & Koerber 2015:18 [ref. 35117], Mariguela et al. 2016:132 [ref. 34141], Koerber et al. 2017:27 [ref. 35267], Malabarba 2024:437 [ref. 40817], Lopes & Carvalho 2024:15 [ref. 41343]). Current status: Valid as Triportheus pantanensis Malabarba 2004. Triportheidae: Triportheinae. Distribution: South America: Paraguay and lower Paraná River basins (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay). Habitat: freshwater.
