Holotype: MUMF 4018. Paratypes: MUMF 4000-4017 (18). Redescribed in Vishwanath & Nebeshwar Sharma 2009:425 [ref. 30375]. •Valid as Pterocryptis barakensis Vishwanath & Nebeshwar Sharma 2006 -- (Jayaram 2006:98 [ref. 28762] with genus misspelled Preocryptis, Ferraris 2007:441 [ref. 29155], Vishwanath & Nebeshwar 2009:425 [ref. 30375 with authorship as Vishwanath & Nebeshwar], Gurung et al. 2013:4884 [ref. 32969] as cf. barakensis). Current status: Valid as Pterocryptis barakensis Vishwanath & Nebeshwar Sharma 2006. Siluridae. Distribution: South Asia: Barak River drainage, Brahmaputra River basin, Manipur, India. Habitat: freshwater.
