Holotype: ZRC 47396. Paratypes: ZRC 47395 (3), 47397 (2). •Valid as Neogastromyzon crassiobex Tan 2006 -- (Kottelat 2012:66 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:195 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Neogastromyzon crassiobex Tan 2006. Gastromyzontidae. Distribution: Kuamut drainage of the Kinabatangan River basin, eastern Sabah, and the Sebuku River basin, northern Kalimantan Timur, Borneo, Malaysia. Habitat: freshwater.
