Holotype: INPA 691. Paratypes: (400) BMNH 1849.11.8.24 (1), 1902.11.7.15 (1), 1929.7.30.27 (1), 1926.10.27.414 (1), 1890.2.25.32 (1), 1896.6.29.15-16 (2), 1849.11.8.23 (2); INPA; MZUSP and NRM. Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Cichla pinima Kullander & Ferreira 2006 -- (Reiss et al. 2012:64 [ref. 31910], Sabaj et al. 2020:84 [ref. 37398], Silvano et al. 2020:340 [ref. 38134] as pinima and aff. pinima, Koerber et al. 2022:70 [ref. 39235], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:58 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Cichla pinima Kullander & Ferreira 2006. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: lower Amazon basin: Lower Tapajós, Curuá-Una, Xingu, Tocantins and Capim River drainages, plus possible other areas (Brazil). Introduced in southeastern Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
