Holotype (unique): BPBM 32488. The genus Ctenoobius is indicated by mistake in the summary; the original genus is clearly Ctenogobiops. •Valid as Vanderhorstia phaeosticta (Randall, Shao & Chen 2007) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:890 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:177 [ref. 33932], Allen et al. 2019:96 [ref. 37044], Parenti 2021:255 [ref. 38603], Wada et al. 2021:50 [ref. 38521]). Current status: Valid as Vanderhorstia phaeosticta (Randall, Shao & Chen 2007). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to Amami Islands (southern Japan), south to New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
