Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[12] [ref. 35236]. •Valid as Sternarchogiton preto de Santana & Crampton 2007 -- (Cox Fernandes et al. 2009:206 [ref. 30178], de Santana & Vari 2010:161 [ref. 30740], Ferraris et al. 2017:[12] [ref. 35236], Bernt et al. 2018:474 [ref. 35797]). •Valid as Tenebrosternarchus preto (de Santana & Crampton 2007) -- (Bernt et al. 2020: [ref. 37457], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:21 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Tenebrosternarchus preto (de Santana & Crampton 2007). Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco basins (Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
