Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Moenkhausia hysterosticta Lucinda, Malabarba & Benine 2007 -- (Marinho & Langeani 2010:60 [ref. 30941], Marinho & Langeani 2010:887 [ref. 30927], Bertaco et al. 2011:62 [ref. 31234], Bertaco et al. 2011:37 [ref. 31403], Oliveira & Marinho 2016:573 [ref. 34342], Marinho & Langeani 2016:348 [ref. 34416], Soares et al. 2017:261 [ref. 35237], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:51 [ref. 35633], Marinho & Benine 2024:228 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia hysterosticta Lucinda, Malabarba & Benine 2007. Acestrorhamphidae: Stichonodontinae. Distribution: South America: Orinoco and Amazon River basins, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
