Current status: Valid as Phoxinus bigerri Kottelat 2007. Leuciscidae: Phoxininae. Distribution: Southwestern Europe: Adour, Leyre and Ebro basins, France and Spain; introduced in the Aude and Garonne River drainages, France, and to Galicia and Duero River basin in Spain. Habitat: freshwater.
