Holotype: INPA 26410. Paratypes: many at AMNH, ANSP, FMNH, IAVHP, INPA, MBUCV, MNHN, MZUSP, and USNM. Plus non-type specimens. Type catalog: DoNascimiento et al. 2016:402 [ref. 34787], Ferraris et al. 2017:[5] [ref. 35236]. •Valid as Adontosternarchus nebulosus Lundberg & Cox Fernandes 2007 -- (de Santana & Vari 2012:535 [ref. 32200], Sarmiento et al. 2014:188 [ref. 35004], Ferraris et al. 2017:[5] [ref. 35236], Ochoa et al. 2020:63 [ref. 37781], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:21 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Adontosternarchus nebulosus Lundberg & Cox Fernandes 2007. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Bolivia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
