L.] 2007:642, Figs. 1A, 2 [Copeia 2007 (no. 3); ref. 29262] 2 kilometers southwest of Red Hill, Gold Banch of Channahatchee Creek at County road 407, 32°40'17"N, 85°57'36"W, Elmore County, Alabama, USA. Holotype: UAIC 13545.03. Paratypes: Many lots at AUM, GMNH, TU, UAIC, UF, UT and USNM. Plus many non-type specimens mentioned in Material Examined. •Valid as Cottus tallapoosae Neely, Williams & Mayden 2007 -- (Scharpf 2008:11 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:477 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:122 [ref. 32708], Goto et al. 2014:[10] [ref. 33456], Bagley et al. 2023:320 [ref. 41241], Page et al. 2023:184 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Cottus tallapoosae Neely, Williams & Mayden 2007. Cottidae. Distribution: North America: Tallapoosa River drainage above the Fall Line in Alabama and Georgia (U.S.A.). IUCN (2013): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater.
