M.] 2007:18, Figs. 19-20 [Zootaxa No. 1512; ref. 29327] Near mouth of El Caujavito River, tributary of Orinoco River, southeast of Cajarote, 7°41'N, 66°21'W, State of Guarico, Venezuela. Holotype: INHS 35880. Paratypes: AMNH 96662 (1), 96663 (1): ANSP 166790 (1); USNM 233830 (2). Plus additional material examined. •Valid as Pseudoplatystoma orinocoense Buitrago-Suárez & Burr 2007 -- (DoNascimiento 2016:534 [ref. 34727], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:94 [ref. 35633], Urbano-Bonilla et al. 2018:80 [ref. 35773], Grant 2021:120 [ref. 38702], Cortés Hernández et al. 2023:457 [ref. 40760], Lasso in Lasso & Morales-Betancourt 2022:256 [ref. 40783]). Current status: Valid as Pseudoplatystoma orinocoense Buitrago-Suárez & Burr 2007. Pimelodidae. Distribution: South America: Orinoco River basin (Venezuela and Colombia). Habitat: freshwater.
