Paratypes: UAIC 13682.02 (21), 12433.30 (15), 12495.05 (39); INHS 96333 (2), SIUC 48974 (2); TU 195081 (2); USNM 372743 (2); UT 91.6380 (2). •Valid as Etheostoma tennesseense Powers & Mayden 2007 -- (Scharpf 2008:33 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:553 [ref. 31215]). •Synonym of Etheostoma simoterum (Cope 1868) -- (Harrington & Near 2012:64 [ref. 31699], Near et al. 2016:143 [ref. 34865]). Current status: Synonym of Etheostoma simoterum (Cope 1868). Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Habitat: freshwater.
