Holotype: UAIC 13630.14. Paratypes: INHS 96336 (2), SIUC 48977 (2), TU 195084 (2), UAIC 13630 (11), USNM 372746 (2), UT 91.6383 (2). •Valid as Etheostoma orientale Powers & Mayden 2007 -- (Scharpf 2008:29 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:554 [ref. 31215]). •Synonym of Etheostoma atripinne (Jordan 1877) -- (Harrington & Near 2012:64 [ref. 31699]). Current status: Valid as Etheostoma orientale Powers & Mayden 2007. Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: Tributaries to the Cumberland River, Kentucky and Tennessee, U.S.A. Habitat: freshwater.
