L.] 2007:16, Figs. 3E, 4E, 5E [Alabama Museum of Natural History Bulletin No. 25; ref. 29367] West Fork of the Obey River, 14 kilometers east of Livingston at TN highway 52, Overton County, Tennessee (36°23'47"N, 85°10'26"W). Holotype: UAIC 13630.14. Paratypes: INHS 96336 (2), SIUC 48977 (2), TU 195084 (2), UAIC 13630 (11), USNM 372746 (2), UT 91.6383 (2). •Synonym of Etheostoma atripinne (Jordan 1877) -- (Harrington & Near 2012:64 [ref. 31699]). •Valid as Etheostoma orientale Powers & Mayden 2007 -- (Scharpf 2008:29 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:554 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2023:251 [ref. 40505], Page et al. 2023:200 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Etheostoma orientale Powers & Mayden 2007. Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: North America: tributaries to the Cumberland River, Kentucky and Tennessee (U.S.A.). Habitat: freshwater.
